Bus Strike: Private buses halt across Rajasthan today, sleeper services to run

Rajasthan Bus Strike: A one-day strike by various organisations of private bus operators will be observed in Rajasthan on Saturday. During the strike, approximately 40,000 private buses across the state will remain off the roads. Rajasthan Private Bus Strike: Private bus services in Rajasthan will be completely halted on January 24. The state’s bus operators have announced a statewide strike, accusing the transport department of discriminatory practices and taking action against the Motor Vehicles Act. During this strike, called at the behest of Rajasthan Bus Operators Association State President Satyanarayan Sahu, private buses across the state will remain off the roads. However, sleeper coach buses have been exempted from the strike. State Spokesperson for the association, Jagdish Chandra Ojha, stated on Friday that the Transport Commissioner is exerting continuous undue pressure on commercial vehicles in the state, particularly private bus operators. He alleged that incorrect challans are being issued to private buses despite no provision for such action in the Motor Vehicles Act. Furthermore, transport officials are being given illegal targets, and their IDs are being suspended if these targets are not met. Ojha also said that forcing passengers off buses mid-route is extremely inhumane and against regulations. Despite clear provisions for windows and ladders in stage carriage buses, these are being forcibly removed, and in many cases, vehicles are being seized, causing financial losses to bus operators. Kailash Sharma, President of the Bus Operators Society Rajasthan, stated that the transport department is taking action against buses contrary to the central government’s policy. Bus operators will protest against this. He added that this strike has the support of all bus operator organizations in the state. Bus operators have warned that if their demands are not addressed promptly, the agitation will be intensified. Passengers may face inconvenience due to the strike.

Ancient Treasure Unearthed in Rajasthan Village After Five-Month Excavation

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has discovered remnants of a civilisation dating back to 3500-1000 BCE in a village in Rajasthan. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has unearthed remnants of a civilisation dating back to 3500-1000 BCE in Bahj village, Dholpur district, Rajasthan. A 23-metre deep ancient river system (palaeochannel) has also been discovered at the same site. Archaeological researchers are connecting this to the Saraswati River mentioned in the Rigveda. It is claimed that this ancient water system may have been the foundation of a civilisation that flourished along the banks of the Saraswati River. Located fifty kilometres from Mathura, this site is a crucial link in understanding the cultural heritage of the Saraswati basin. Five months of excavation have yielded, besides statues of Hindu deities, ancient ornaments belonging to this civilisation. At a depth of about 4 metres, a female skeleton and a large number of ancient silver and copper coins have also been found. Following information about the village’s association with the grandson of Lord Krishna, Vajranatha’s Kheda, located on the Govindan road, the ASI commenced excavation on 10 January last year. Research on the discovered remains is underway. A Hoard of Mahabharata-Era Pottery Discovered Bone tools, semi-precious stone beads and conch bangles, 15 sacrificial pits (yagna kunds), and statues of Shiva and Parvati have been found. These are estimated to be more than 1000 BCE. Seals with Brahmi script, sacrificial pits from the Mahajanapada period filled with sand and soil, and copper coins in small pots have also been unearthed. A treasure trove of pottery from the Mahabharata period has been discovered. Walls have been found beneath the mound. Jain inscriptions mention Bahj village as Vajnagar. The mounds here are also referred to as Kankali Tila. The name Bahj is believed to be a tadbhava (popularly evolved form) of Vaj Nagari. A significant portion of the village’s ancient mound is being encroached upon by the expanding settlement. It lies on the Brij Chaurasi Kos Parikrama route.

Family Pension Rules Changed for Government Employees

The Finance Department has amended the Rajasthan Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1996, implementing the new system from 2025. 2 min read BharatpurтАвPatrika Desk тАв Oct 23, 2025 File Photo: Patrika The Rajasthan government has made a significant change to the family pension provided after the death of government employees. The Finance Department has amended the Rajasthan Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1996, implementing the new system from 2025. The objective of the amendment is to prevent the misuse of family pension and ensure benefits reach genuine beneficiaries. Under the new conditions for pension eligibility, it will now only be provided to unmarried sons and daughters whose monthly income is less than тВ╣12,500. If their income exceeds this limit or if they get married, they will no longer be eligible for the pension. The government has provided relief for differently-abled sons or daughters. The marital status of mentally or physically disabled children will not affect their eligibility for family pension. Additionally, if their income is less than тВ╣8,850 per month (including dearness relief), they will continue to receive the pension. Certificate to be submitted every six months According to the new rules, every son or daughter receiving a pension will be required to submit a certificate of their marital status and monthly income every six months. Failure to comply with this procedure will result in the suspension of the pension. Objective is to benefit genuine recipients Secretary Finance (Rule Branch) Naveen Jain stated in the amendment that this revision has been made with the aim of preventing the misuse of family pension and ensuring that benefits reach the actual eligible individuals. Special provisions for the differently-abled uphold the spirit of security and support within society. Misuse of pension will stop By amending Rules 62 and 67 under the Service Rules, the state government has provided relief by clarifying the cases of dependent sons and daughters and increasing the income limit. This will stop the misuse of family pension and ensure that the genuine beneficiaries within the family receive the benefits.Kokaram Jain, Retired Assistant Accounts Officer
